Luci is ready for iPhone Duo from day one

On Friday, October 23, iPhone Duo lands in hands and pockets for the first time. We're excited to share that Luci is ready for it from day one. Over the past month we reworked countless controls and views so that Luci feels great on both the outer and the inner display of the Duo.

Small at a glance

iPhone Duo has two modes: the outer display and the inner display. The outer display is more compact, so Luci now moves its controls to the right side. That leaves more room on the left to enjoy your content.

This view is perfect for logging your mood quickly, without wrestling with a large device. Log how you feel while you wait in line at the grocery store, before you go to bed, or over lunch.

We re-engineered controls across the app, from modals to header icons, so they sit naturally under your thumb on the right side. It makes Luci more comfortable to use with one hand and gives your content more room to breathe on the compact outer display.

Immersive in the moment

Some moments call for the biggest version of Luci that still fits in your pocket. Open up iPhone Duo and use the inner display to see more of your statistics and insights. Luci automatically switches to a two-column layout, so you can see more of your journal at once.

The Home Screen and statistics screen are customizable, so you see only the cards you care about.

On the inner display you can see more days in the happiness line graph, more dots of your Year in Pixels in a single view, and more mood impact lines at once. With iPhone Duo, Luci becomes the best mood tracking experience on the go.

We can't wait to optimize Luci further for iPhone Duo as we explore more ways to use what makes this device unique, such as the hinge position and split view.

Other improvements

Luci 4.2.0 brings a raft of other additions too.

• Apple Watch. New complications, including a Smart Stack widget and a complication that shows your recent mood in real time. Read more about mood logging on Apple Watch.
• Steps and mood. A new graph shows how your daily step count relates to your mood. Curious what the research says? Read do your steps lift your mood?
• New mood icons. More ways to express how you feel, with new cartoon characters: Frogs, Dogs, Ghosts and Glimmers.

Luci 4.2.0 is available now on the App Store. iPhone Duo will be released on October 23, 2026. Luci also runs on every other supported iPhone, on Apple Watch, iPad and Android.
