Robin Chung
Robin builds Luci, a mood tracker and guided journal for iOS and Android, and writes the articles on this blog.
I'm Robin Chung, the founder of Luci. For years I looked for a way to make sense of my own moods. Along the way I read a lot of psychology research, and one idea kept coming back: most of us notice surprisingly little of what goes on in our minds as we make sense of our feelings and our days.
That is how I found cognitive behavioral therapy. Around the same time, my mother, who works in mental health care, ran a practice improvement project with her clients (in Dutch). One of the things it produced was a set of question cards to help people build self-awareness and confidence. Both ideas shaped what Luci became.
Luci is built around three things I have found work in everyday life. Prompts, which ask the right questions so you can understand yourself a little better. Detailed mood logging, where adding a note takes seconds and you can track anything that might affect how you feel. And learning, through short pieces on mind traps and other ideas from psychology about the colored glasses we all see the world through.
I'm not a psychologist. I'm a developer by craft. What you read in the app and on this blog draws on published research and on my own experience of using what I build.
